For nearly 60 years, the West Virginia Department of Education selects one educator to serve as the West Virginia Teacher of the Year (WVTOY). The mission of the WVTOY Program is to recognize and reward teachers of excellence in West Virginia.
This year, the WVDE named Sharon Cole the 2024 WVTOY! Mrs. Cole is a 2nd Grade Teacher at Ceredo-Kenova Elementary School and has been teaching for 35 years. Mrs. Cole plays an active role on her school's leadership team, and helps teachers who are beginning their careers.
