Tolsia High School JROTC Nationals

The Rebels are going National!

JROTC Students at Tolsia High School have secured a spot in the National JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB)  set for this summer! Just to reach this point, the THS JROTC team had to beat out nearly 1,800 other JROTC programs from around the world. Let's take a look at how they did just that.

Qualifying

JLAB is broken down into three rounds

  • Level I
  • Level II
  • Nationals

Level I - Took place in October of 2023. The THS team scored in the top 50% of participating JROTC programs. That score qualified for Level II.

Level II - Took place at the beginning of February 2024. The team's score in this round was high enough to qualify them for the JLAB National Competition.

Nationals - Take place this June at The Catholic University of Americain Washington, DC.

What is JLAB and How Does it Work

JLAB is an online competition for JROTC Programs around the world. The competition is designed to test students in

  1. STEM
  2. Core Academics
  3. Leadership

Teams participate in a timed, team effort, exam that must be completed in one setting. Teams are made up of four members and two alternates. The THS Team Members are:

  • Johnny Marcum (Team Captain)
  • Shayla Cook
  • Allen Tate
  • Kolton Lashley

Team Alternates

  • Chance Marcum
  • Noah Riggs

Out of the nearly 1,800 JROTC that participate in this annual competition, only the top 40 teams qualify for the JLAB National Competition!

Congratulations to the THS JROTC Program for achieving this incredible accomplishment! We can't wait to watch you represent The Rebels and WCS on the national stage. Good luck this summer!
