WCS Student Advisory Committee

Students are the largest group stakeholders in education, but often times they are not given a seat at the decision making table. WCS Superintendent Todd Alexander is looking to change that narrative with the creation of a new program.  

WCS Superintendent's Student Advisory Team 

What role will the Student Advisory Team play?

  • Attend all meetings - approximately two per year
  • Act as a liaison between the superintendent and students in their respective schools
  • Share information learned during meetings with their classmates
  • Provide input/feedback regarding student's views of the performance and operation of WCS
The Wayne County Schools Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team meets with the Superintendent each semester to advise, provide feedback, and present viable solutions from the student’s perspective.  The team will include students in grades 5-12.  Team members will be ambassadors for the entire student population in Wayne County Schools.  By empowering these student voices, Wayne County Schools will continue its focus on expanding student opportunity.

Student feedback is vital to creating a positive learning environment


Who can apply for a position and what are the eligibility requirements 
  • The team will be made up of students in grades 5-12
  • 2.5 GPA or better
  • No failing grades or unsatisfactory marks on the preceding end of year report card
  • Must be endorsed by your school's principal
  • Must be able to serve a one-year term
  • Demonstrate problem solving, creative thinking, initiative, and have a desire to make positive change
