Four teams representing WCS tested their knowledge in the 3rd Annual West Virginia Academic Showdown. The showdown is an academic head-to-head competition that brings more than 90 West Virginia High Schools together to compete for the top spot.
Spring Valley Teams 1 & 2 and Wayne Teams 1 & 2 competed in their Academic Showdown regional tournament at Marshall University over the weekend. All four teams competed well through several tough matchups.

Tolsia High School's drama department, led by Mrs. Teresa Muncy, recently had their holiday production with The Island of Misfit Toys, the Musical. They performed three showings of the musical and entertained local elementary schools, their own student body, and the community. As always, Mrs. Muncy’s students did a great job!

Santa makes the trip around the globe, so 3rd grade students at Lavalette Elementary did the same this week! Each student researched a country and created ornaments highlighting that countries culture. Then they presented their countries holiday culture to their class!
Today at Kellogg Elementary Wayne County graduate and Amazon Gives Coordinator Michael Perry and his team presented a truckload of supplies to students from Kellogg, Vinson Middle, and Spring Valley High School! These supplies will be distributed throughout the county where they are most needed.
We would like to thank Amazon for supporting education in Wayne County as they continue to look for ways to support initiatives like this in the future!

PK through 2nd grade teachers would like to thank all the parents that attended Family Fun Night this past Thursday at Crum PK-8! Families had the opportunity to make two different ornaments using paint, stencils, jewels, and feathers while snacking on pizza, cookies, and cake!
